RNLI Sandstorm beach-based assault course coming soon

At last, the challenge you’ve been waiting for – can you ride out the storm on Sunday 26 March?

Bournemouth Beach will be transformed into the ultimate assault course. The Sandstorm challenge will be a test of strength and determination, and will raise vital funds to support the lifesaving work of the RNLI. Our volunteer lifesavers jump into action at a moment’s notice to save lives at sea in all conditions, will you show your support and give the course all you’ve got?

The beautiful sandy beaches provide a deceptively laid-back location for a punishing course that will test your endurance, mental strength and teamwork. You can either do the 5K course, or do 2 laps to test yourself against the full 10K challenge. That means taking on 20 unique obstacles, including; Breathtaker, Cliffhanger and The Scrambler, to name  but a few!

Make sure you and your team are ready to smash the Sandstorm and check out our training tips.

It’s the calm before the storm so pit yourself against the course and grab your early bird tickets now.

If racing isn’t for you this year, you can still soak-up the energy and excitement of the day by volunteering to help out. We’re looking for around 70 people to volunteer for a range of roles including obstacle supervisors, registration team, logistics and marshalling.

Lauren Pincott, RNLI Innovation Project Manager, says: ‘The RNLI’s volunteer lifeboat crew members and lifeguards are known for saving lives around our coasts, in all conditions, so Sandstorm is a great way for people to take on a personal challenge while also recognising and supporting the work that we do each year’.

If you want to take part, get your tickets at sandstormchallenge.com. Early bird tickets are available until 19 February, priced from £42.

If you’d like to help make the day happen by volunteering, you can find out more here and can register your interest by emailing sandstorm@rnli.org.uk.
