On Tuesday 2 July, Clacton RNLI was host to 21 children from Steeple Bumpstead Primary School, who had made the 90 mile round trip to visit and listen intently to what Dennis Hoad, RNLI Volunteer Local Visits Officer, had to say and demonstrate.

The visit focussed on how to stay safe at the coast, and how the RNLI save lives at sea. As always the best bits included seeing the Lifeboats and dressing up in the protective clothing worn by the crew.

This is the third year that a class from Steeple Bumpstead Primary School has paid the station a visit. This year the school held fundraising events, and the class who collected the longest line of coins were chosen to visit the station and present a cheque for a fantastic £144.80. All to help the Clacton RNLI volunteers continue their lifesaving work.

With an impressive 43 meters of coins, the class of 6-7 year olds won!
