Lifeguards News Release

RNLI Lifeguards from the North East will be taking part in an Emergency Services Event in Sunderland on Thursday 29 August from 11am until 2pm.

RNLI/Kate Driver

The event at The Salvation Army, Austin House Family Centre* aims to give members of the public an opportunity to interact and learn what the emergency services do.

RNLI Lifeguards will be joining Northumbria Police, Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue, St John’s Ambulance, The Salvation Army and many others.

Nick Campbell, RNLI Lifeguard Supervisor Community Engagement said: ‘It’s a great opportunity for us to get our safety messages across. We always enjoy working with other emergency services and this will be a fun day for all the family to meet the faces behind the uniform, have fun and take away some vital lifesaving advice.’

There will also be a host of activities such as climbing walls, assault courses and go-karts and there will be a number of demonstrations from the emergency services throughout the day.

Notes to editors
