Kinghorn RNLI Lifeboat Fundraising Branch are inviting you to join them for a 1920s style Afternoon Tea on Saturday, 23rd September.

After hugely successful previous sell-out events, the date returns to the 2017 fundraising calendar.

The 1920s themed event takes place in Kinghorn Church Hall, starting at 2pm prompt, when afternoon tea will be served to the sounds of One Heart vocal group.

Kinghorn lifeboat fundraising committee chairperson, Sheona Smith said, ‘This year, our theme will be the 1920s and we will have prizes for the best dressed Flapper, and most Dapper Gent!

‘The event is open to over 18s only, and Prohibition Cocktails and prosecco will be available. We will also have an art auction for paintings which have been donated.

‘This will be an afternoon to take you back to the days of your parents and grandparents, whilst having great fun for a good cause. Nowadays it costs around £485,000 per day to run the RNLI charity.’

Tickets are selling well for this event and are available from Kinghorn Community Centre, the Dragon’s Den, and committee members. There will be no tickets available on the door. All proceeds will go the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

Key facts about the RNLI

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is the charity that saves lives at sea. Our volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service in the United Kingdom and Ireland from 238 lifeboat stations, including four along the River Thames and inland lifeboat stations at Loch Ness, Lough Derg, Enniskillen and Lough Ree. Additionally the RNLI has more than 1,000 lifeguards on over 240 beaches around the UK and operates a specialist flood rescue team, which can respond anywhere across the UK and Ireland when inland flooding puts lives at risk.

The RNLI relies on public donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service. As a charity it is separate from, but works alongside, government-controlled and funded coastguard services. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824 our lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved at least 140,000 lives. Volunteers make up 95% of the charity, including 4,600 volunteer lifeboat crew members and 3,000 volunteer shore crew. Additionally, tens of thousands of other dedicated volunteers raise funds and awareness, give safety advice, and help in our museums, shops and offices.
