Both Eyemouth lifeboats called out to missing kayakers

Lifeboats News Release

Aberdeen Coastguard launched both Eyemouth inshore and all-weather lifeboat shortly after 8pm on Thursday 23 June 2016 after concerns were raised for two overdue kayakers.

The kayakers had left Coldingham Bay earlier in the afternoon, heading for Pease Bay. RNLI lifeguards based at Coldingham raised the alarm after fears were raised for their safety.

Both lifeboats were quickly on scene just minutes after launching and began to search their way towards Pease Bay. Eyemouth ALB liaised with a passing cargo vessel and requested that they also keep a sharp lookout.

Thankfully however, at 8:25pm, it was reported that both kayakers had been found safe and well, and all search units were stood down.

Once it was established that there was no further need for assistance, both lifeboats returned to station, arriving back 30 minutes after the initial call out.
