Operating from the historic North Shields Fish Quay, Tynemouth operates a D class inshore lifeboat and a Severn class all-weather lifeboat. The station’s crews have been awarded 22 medals for gallantry.

Cullercoats and Tynemouth RNLI crews attend the 'Crossing the Tyne' festival
Volunteer RNLI crews from Cullercoats and Tynemouth attended this year's 'Crossing the Tyne' festival at North Shields. The modern lifeboats of today formed up with two lifeboats from the past - the 'Henry Frederick Swan' and the 'Charles Henry' in a procession from the lower harbour up to the Royal Quays marina and back.
